Adolescence is one of the most important stages of our lives. It is a time when we discover more about the world and about ourselves. Living and interacting with other people is essential for our growth, because through these experiences we learn our first lessons about politics, ethics, relationships, sexuality, and many other subjects.

Technology can be a great ally in keeping young people connected and engaged with their social circles. However, parents are encouraged to establish an agreement with clear rules and limits on its use. After all, although technology provides many benefits, it still cannot fully convey human feelings, affection, and meaningful interpersonal exchanges.

Of course, one type of experience does not exclude the other. That is why it is important to preserve both in-person and virtual interactions. Young people are often concerned with belonging to a group, and when they do not feel that they belong, they may develop symptoms such as anxiety and depression.

A positive family environment also contributes directly to physical and emotional well-being and, consequently, to all the activities young people engage in. During moments of stress, discouragement, or lack of focus, it can be comforting to be listened to by someone who is going through something similar. There is comfort in knowing that you are not the only one facing the challenges of this stage of life.

Human beings are naturally social, and going against this instinct can lead to unpleasant consequences, especially during youth, when being part of a group is so important for overall well-being.
