What should you eat before and while consuming alcohol to reduce discomfort?
Eating before drinking causes alcohol to be absorbed more slowly by the body. This helps prevent you from feeling the effects of alcohol too quickly and makes it easier for the body to process it.
When there is food in the stomach, the body can clear alcohol from the bloodstream 25% to 45% faster. Ideally, choose foods that contain complete sources of nutrients, such as lean meats, eggs, avocado, nuts, and grains, as they can further slow down alcohol absorption.
Does alternating alcoholic drinks with water really help? How much water should we drink?
Drinking water between alcoholic drinks has two important benefits.
The first is giving your body more time to process the alcohol you have consumed.
The second is helping prevent dehydration, since alcohol increases fluid loss through urine and sweat.
Staying hydrated helps prevent symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness, and confusion, as well as reducing the risk of more serious problems, such as urinary tract infections, kidney stones, and even severe cases such as seizures.
Try to drink one glass of water for every glass of alcoholic beverage.
Is there a safe amount of alcohol to consume on very hot days?
According to the World Health Organization, there is no completely safe level of alcohol consumption, as any amount can increase the risk of dehydration. When it comes to drinking, it is important to practice moderation, since alcohol tolerance varies according to individual characteristics.
