More and more people are connecting and sharing information on social media. However, the question has arisen: can these new forms of interaction and tools be combined to improve our health?
Studies show that they can help people increase their physical activity and better manage their weight. However, researchers have identified several challenges. In addition, using this type of technology can be particularly valuable for reaching younger populations and/or people who live outside major urban centers, for example.
Although there is emerging evidence that the use of social media can help promote behavioral change, more research is needed to understand how to maintain people’s engagement with these new tools.
